Here is a piece of news that will not pass in silence: a restaurant in Singapore has started charging a "screaming children's fee" in the amount of just over NIS 20 from each table where the children disturb the other diners in the restaurant • Confused? It turns out that the customers are actually in favor

No screaming at meal time.

And if so, then you will pay dearly for it.

Here is a piece of news that will certainly not pass in silence: a Singaporean grill restaurant called Angie's has announced that it will start charging a "screaming children fee" of ten local dollars (a little over 24 shekels) from any family whose loud babbling disturbs the other diners and whose parents fail to calm them down.

The decision to collect the controversial payment supplement was made at the restaurant a few weeks ago, after it had accumulated many complaints about children who scream, run amok and harm the hospitality experience of the clientele.

Therefore, every family that reserves a table at a restaurant will be informed in advance about the new policy, and will probably think twice if they wish to bring their little ones to a restaurant that will not welcome them, or at the very least will require them to keep their mouths closed as long as they are not biting and chewing.

Overwhelmed?

Here's what Angie's managers have to say in their defense: "99 percent of our customers respect this policy, understand that it was formulated with only good intentions, and appreciate our efforts to provide an enjoyable hospitality experience for everyone - not just the few."

And if this announcement doesn't sit well with you (or does it?), wait until you read the rest: "Not only is this rampage dangerous, since our waiters are walking around with hot dishes and sharp utensils, it is disrespectful towards guests who wish to dine in a quiet and pleasant atmosphere. We understand that it is impossible to please everyone, but we will do our best to prevent egocentric behavior and encourage mutual respect among all our guests."

It was also reported on behalf of Angie's that the threat of imposing a fine for screaming turned out to be particularly effective, since since the announcement, the restaurant has received far fewer complaints about noisy children, and "it is clear that parents are making a greater effort to make sure that their children do not disturb the other diners."

So have an appetite, and preferably in complete silence.
