Parents' taxis have become a problem in the mornings in front of the Anzing school.

Parents' council, school management and community provided information on the spot.

Anzing –

"It's a shame, the weather is really too good today," agree the Anzinger school helpers around the parents' council chairman Timo Lindemann.

Then the next crowd of students arrives: "Here's a pretzel for you, and you give the bag to your parents," Lindemann and First Mayor Kathrin Alte explain to one child after the other - and give them a hug at the crossing in front of the main entrance to the elementary school one of the 200 prepared snacks in hand.

There is a joke on the bags that is supposed to persuade parents to let their children go to school themselves instead of taking them by car.

"And the pretzel as a treat for the kids," says Lindemann and hands another bag to a smiling boy, who accepts it and runs on.

“The weather was far too good that day”

On this sunny Friday morning, however, most of the students are on foot or on city scooters: "Most people are not yet allowed to use bikes, but scooters count as toys," explains Mama Alte, handing them over her shoulder.

"But if the weather was really bad, it would look very different here," is her sad experience.

Then the parents block the teacher's parking lot, stand in the schoolyard or block the intersection to take their protégés to school.

"Today's children are no longer waterproof," confirms Timo Lindemann and smiles.

The two pretzel distributors agree that the cliché that parents drive up to work in a large SUV or VW bus and then only one child gets out regularly applies here.

"And you can explain it to one Porsche driver as often as you like, and he'll do it again the next day," says Lindemann, watching the children munch away happily.

And then a parents' taxi pulls up, from which three children jump out.

Lindemann immediately runs to the father, hands him a red sticker and tries to explain the purpose of the campaign to him.

But the father doesn't speak German, takes the sticker, nods overwhelmed and drives off again.

Pretzels for the children, information for the parents

"The first graders are really so small, it's dangerous," emphasizes Timo Lindemann on the way back to the group, as an accident can quickly happen in places that are difficult to see.

And if the parents absolutely have to drive their children because of bad weather, then they should at least use the sufficient municipal parking spaces a few meters away instead of queuing in front of the school, adds Mayor Kathrin Alte.

The next mother behind the wheel has probably already heard about the campaign through word of mouth, she parks just a little bit away around the corner.

"I usually let my kids go, but today is my daughter's birthday, that's an exception," she apologizes and quickly runs back to the car.

When the school bell rings, there are still about 20 pretzels left, which the helpers divide among themselves.

"Many children have a cold right now," explains Mama Alte.

There were no five parent taxis this morning.

But this campaign shouldn't be the last, the distributors agree: "Next time it will be in really bad weather," says parents' spokesman Lindemann, smiling and biting into a pretzel with relish.
