A fire broke out in Kwai Chung.
At about 2:00 a.m., the fire department received multiple fire reports, referring to a fire under the footbridge on Kwai Chung Road next to Shing Mei Industrial Building, opposite Kwong Fai Wai and near Shing Mei Industrial Building, and an explosion sounded.
Firefighters arrived at the scene and found that the above site was an open-air parking lot for motorcycles. Several motorcycles were on fire. They immediately dispatched a smoke cap team to open their throats to rescue them. The fire was extinguished about 20 minutes later. No one was injured in the incident.
However, after a preliminary count, as many as 45 motorcycles and 2 bicycles were burned on the site.
The fire department is investigating the cause of the fire. It is reported that the fire was initially suspicious and was handed over to the police as "arson" for follow-up.
