In the pouring rain, an accident occurred on Sunday evening on the A 96 near the Gilching junction.

A 62-year-old woman was injured.

Gilching – A 62-year-old woman was injured in an accident near the Gilching junction on the A 96 on Sunday evening.

The woman from Kempten was on her way to Munich in her Mazda.

According to the traffic police in Fürstenfeldbruck, when she wanted to switch from the left to the middle lane at around 9:50 p.m., she lost control of her vehicle in the pouring rain.

The Mazda first threw itself across the road to the right, crashed into the concrete wall there, threw itself back against the central barrier and collided with a Skoda from Wolfenbüttel (Lower Saxony) in the left lane.

Its driver and her 23-year-old son were able to leave the Skoda unharmed.

The 62-year-old, on the other hand, was locked in her Mazda – “fortunately not trapped”, as reported by the Gilching fire department.

Together with comrades from the Geisenbrunn fire brigade, they removed the driver's door, freed the woman and handed her over to the rescue service.

She had suffered moderate injuries and was taken to a Munich clinic.

During the rescue work, the A 96 towards Munich was completely closed until around 11:15 p.m., and traffic was diverted at the Gilching exit.

Traffic was then diverted in one lane past the scene of the accident.

The Gilchinger and Geisenbrunn emergency services received support from the Weßling and Steinebach fire brigades.

35 volunteers were involved.

Police were not yet aware of the extent of the property damage.
