The Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives, Muhammad al-Halbousi, submitted his resignation from his position, provided that it will be presented to a vote during the next parliament session.
According to a document issued by the House of Representatives, carried by the Iraqi News Agency, INA, the session will be held next Wednesday, and will include a vote on Al-Halbousi's resignation from his position, and the election of the first deputy speaker of the House of Representatives.
It is noteworthy that Al-Halbousi previously held the position of Governor of Anbar, and became a deputy in the House of Representatives since 2014, before he was elected in September 2018 as Speaker of the House of Representatives and was re-elected in January 2022 to head the House for the second time.
