INTERVIEW – By announcing to municipalities an unprecedented increase in their endowment, the minister responsible for local authorities intends to reassure them financially.

– The financial question is a sensitive subject for local authorities.

Do you expect blockages in the Assembly during the examination of the 2023 finance bill which will begin on October 10?

The finance bill will be the subject of intense debate and that is quite normal.

Our majority is fully mobilized and will act responsibly as it has done for 5 years.

After the time for consultation, now is the time to build a budget that listens to the territories and gives local elected officials visibility.

The government is banking on a new method of dialogue.

What has really changed in the relationship between the State and local elected officials who often say they are “heard” but not “listened to”?

This is a subject that I care about with regard to my career as a local elected official: a new method, for a new deal.
