The concerted action of a Munich clinic, the police in the state capital and the federal police at the airport in Erdinger Moos may have saved the life of a US citizen over the weekend.

Airport – The 46-year-old almost took the long-haul flight home without knowing that his life was in danger.

He might not have survived the trip.

The federal police managed to locate the man, who had been on vacation with his wife in Bavaria, just in time before the start.

He was immediately taken back to the hospital by ambulance, where he is still being treated.

Federal police spokesman Christian Köglmeier reported that the 46-year-old had visited the emergency room of a Munich clinic on Saturday.

But he was allowed to leave again on the same day.

Only when the American was gone did the doctors learn the full diagnosis.

Apparently he had suffered a serious internal injury from which he could have died.

The problem of the clinic: only the name of the man was known there, but no contact.

Because the doctors still knew that the man wanted to start his journey home, the Munich police were called in immediately.

She turned to her border guard colleagues at the airport.

Köglmeier reports that they pulled out all the stops to find the passenger.

"After all, every minute and a human life were at stake." The research revealed that the couple had booked a flight to Washington on Saturday morning.

However, by this time they had already passed exit control.

Boarding for the flight to the US capital was imminent.

“So the border police rushed to the departure gate.

There they were able to find the person they were looking for at the door of the aircraft and accompany them to the security guard,” reports Köglmeier about the race against time.

The ambulance was already informed.
