Japan will resume the entry of independent travelers and visa-free entry on the 11th of next month. Chief Cabinet Secretary Hiroichi Matsuno said at a press conference on the 26th that the border epidemic prevention measures against the new crown pneumonia will be relaxed from October 11th. Entry and exit inspections for all returnees and entrants will be cancelled in principle.
Matsuno said the country will resume international flights at all airports as soon as arrangements are in place.
"We do not screen all returnees and arrivals, except for those with suspected symptoms of the new coronavirus," Matsuno explained.
As an alternative, Japan will require proof that they have received 3 doses of the vaccine upon entry, or proof of a negative nucleic acid test 72 hours before departure.
The Japanese government intends to add vaccines developed in China to the list of approved vaccines.
