With a daring action, a 60-year-old forced a train to brake at Moosburg station.
The man himself was very lucky.
Moosburg
– As reported by the federal police, the man went to the tracks at Moosburg train station around 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, September 25, to look for his umbrella there.
Apparently the wind had blown the 60-year-old's umbrella from a path near the rails into the track bed.
The man chased after the umbrella.
At the same time, the regional express coming from Landshut was approaching the platform on which he was standing – “at full speed”, as police spokesman Wolfgang Hauner reports.
"The 60-year-old reacted just as little to a warning whistle as to the loudly audible emergency braking."
(By the way: everything from the region is now also available in our regular Freising newsletter.)
The train driver arrested the culprit and handed him over to the police
Only when the train was about 100 meters in front of the man did he leave the track area.
Hauner emphasized that this was the only way to prevent an otherwise inevitable collision, which would have had serious health consequences for the 60-year-old.
The regional express came to a standstill about 200 meters further.
The engine driver rushed to the 60-year-old and held him until the federal police arrived.
Due to the hara-kiri action, the track was closed for around 75 minutes, which had significant operational effects.
The federal police are investigating the 60-year-old because of a dangerous intervention in rail traffic.
