In 2006, committed Poinger citizens came together to form a community of interest in matters of district heating and prices.
Now she has been revived for current reasons.
Poing – Hans Stein has been dealing with district heating in Poing since 1995, since he has been living here and has been a district heating customer.
The 77-year-old took part in a number of discussions with the municipal administration and the district heating supplier Bayernwerk as one of several citizen representatives.
They had already formed an interest group in 2006 to show Bayernwerk that there are citizens who follow price developments and price models objectively and critically.
Stein's demand has always been: "fair and social pricing".
So that everyone in Poing can actually afford district heating.
Especially since there is no alternative in Poing.
Poing: Initiator of several rounds of talks
Hans Stein has now revived the activities for a given reason: due to the energy crisis and general cost increases, the district heating price has also skyrocketed in recent months.
Bayernwerk sales manager Robert Budde explained the development recently at the meeting of the building committee of the Poing municipal council (we reported).
In short: the gross working price for a megawatt hour of district heating doubled between July 1, 2021 (75.32 euros) and July 1, 2022 (148.13 euros).
Mainly because the electricity and natural gas indices have risen significantly, according to Budde.
The district heating, which in Poing is largely obtained from geothermal energy, consists of 80 percent geothermal energy, 19 percent heat generation from gas boilers and 1 percent from a combined heat and power plant in the heating plant on Gruber Straße.
Poing: Bayernwerk presents district heating of the future
According to the Bayernwerk sales manager, the geothermal energy share should be at the highest possible 81 percent in the future, with further increases in heat consumption by additional customers.
The 20 percent that has previously been heated with natural gas is to be largely replaced by a large heat pump (12 percent).
As a result of these and other measures, the working price could probably be reduced to 109.35 euros (gross) as of January 1, 2023, Robert Budde showed in his presentation at the committee meeting.
This price should remain stable, especially as it is planned not to carry out the regular price adjustment every three months as before, but only once - at the beginning of the year.
(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)
In the run-up to the building committee meeting, there had already been a round table with representatives of the municipal administration (including Mayor Thomas Stark), Bayernwerk sales manager Robert Budde and committed citizens, reports Hans Stein.
The talks were constructive, some things were questioned and suggestions were made.
For example, whether residential areas such as W3 and W4 in Poing-Nord and the fishing settlement in Poing-Süd can also be connected to the district heating network.
Budde replied in the committee meeting that Bayernwerk Natur GmbH first had to check and calculate whether the connection was economically viable (also for the customers).

Another point that he raised at the round table was the basic price, says Hans Stein.
In his opinion, this is too high at just under 725 euros, compared to, for example, Aschheim (approx. 565 euros) and Unterföhring (557 euros).
The 77-year-old Poinger has collected all the data, numbers and notes of conversations in a folder.
With regard to the geothermal plant, which Bayernwerk in Poing operates under its own responsibility (in other communities, the respective municipality is involved), Hans Stein says: “Bayernwerk is a company that is allowed to make a profit.
But it must not lose sight of the social aspect.” That is why he hopes that Bayernwerk Natur GmbH will not publish a further increase with the next price adjustment on October 1st and burden it on customers, but that the price will now remain stable until December 31.
And then the working price of around 109 euros announced by Robert Budde becomes reality.
"That would be a partial success," says Hans Stein.
