Police later arrested three men in connection with the incident.


The three men pleaded guilty to rioting and wounding in the District Court today (26th). The case states that the three men fled immediately after committing the crime. Among them, the defendant, who was stabbed by the police officer with a knife, was on the plane when he was about to take a flight to London that night. Arrested, another burnt his clothes and told friends that he had become a "celebrity" wanted.

The judge adjourned the case until October 13 to hear the pleas, during which time background reports will be requested for the three defendants.


3 male defendants plead guilty to rioting and wounding

3 male defendants: Huang Junhua (26 years old, engineer), Luo Juechen (20 years old), Zhou Peilin (23 years old).

He pleaded guilty to one count of rioting, Huang to one count of wounding, Luo to resisting arrest, and Zhou to obstructing a police officer.

The charges allege that they participated in a riot and assaulted a police officer on July 1, 2020, outside the Queen's College.

Huang's girlfriend involved in helping Huang leave Hong Kong for trial

In the case, there is still a female defendant, Zhang Zhicheng (female, 27 years old), who is the girlfriend of the first defendant Huang Junhua. She is suspected of helping Huang to leave Hong Kong after the incident. The two are charged with one count of obstruction of justice.

After Huang pleaded guilty, Judge Huai Huang's case was kept in court files without prosecution, while Zhang denied the charge and the case will be tried.

Police disperse protesters

According to the prosecution plan, many people gathered in Causeway Bay from noon on the day of the incident, and some slogans such as Hong Kong independence and "light time".

After 3:00 p.m., about 300 people began to set up roadblocks on the road. The police began to disperse at about 4:00 p.m., but the protesters ignored it.

After the incident, the police found that after the incident, the female defendant Zhang Zhicheng ordered a flight ticket for Huang to leave Hong Kong for London that night, while Huang went home to change his shirt, and then went to a site in Kwun Tong to drop a black bag at the pier. Huang later met the female defendant, and the two went to the airport together that night. After Huang boarded the plane, a police officer arrived at the scene and boarded the plane to arrest Huang.

The other two defendants changed or burned their clothes

When Luo left, he changed his clothes before returning home, while Zhou burned his clothes, filmed and sent the film to his friends, and even described himself as a "celebrity".

Both Luo and Zhou were arrested on July 16 of the same year.

Injured police officer transferred to clerical job after reinstatement

The policeman whose left arm was stabbed in the incident was only 2 centimeters long, but penetrated deep into the muscle.

After he was discharged the next day, he had a fever and was readmitted to the hospital where the wound was found to be infected.

The officer was given 106 days of sick leave for his injuries and required physical therapy.

There is still slight pain from time to time, and after returning to work, I switch to clerical work.
