Director General of the Russian Atomic Energy Agency Alexei Likhachev stressed that the Kyiv regime deliberately creates direct threats to nuclear security in the region.
Today, during the sixty-sixth annual session of the General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency, held in Vienna, Likhachev was quoted by RIA Novosti news agency as saying that Ukrainian forces periodically bomb the Zaporozhye nuclear plant using drones, heavy artillery and rocket launchers.
Likhachev noted that the Ukrainian sabotage groups also destroyed high-voltage lines and power transmission lines, including within the territory of Russia, as well as near the Kursk nuclear plant, considering that "all this constitutes a direct threat to nuclear safety."
It is noteworthy that on August 16, the Russian Federal Security Service reported that Ukrainian sabotage groups blew up six towers of power lines connected to a nuclear power plant in the Russian province of Kursk.
