On Saturday evening, an unknown person seriously injured a British tourist.

This was previously on the Oktoberfest.

Now two young men have been arrested.

New developments related to the attack on a British Wiesn tourist in Schwabing.

According to the police, two suspects from Munich were arrested in the course of the investigation.

Here, at the request of the Munich I public prosecutor's office, an arrest warrant for attempted murder against an 18-year-old was issued by the Munich district court.

Several warrants for searches were also issued.

Oktoberfest: Attack on British tourists - two Munich arrested

On Monday, September 26, 2022, five residential properties were visited by police officers in the early hours of the morning and the decisions were carried out.

The 18-year-old was arrested at one location.

A second person involved in the crime, an 18-year-old who also lives in Munich, was also arrested because of an arrest warrant issued in this matter for aggravated robbery as part of this action.

Both suspects will now be brought before an investigating judge, who will ultimately decide whether they will be held in custody.

With regard to the underlying facts, the current investigations revealed that it was a drug deal.

It was probably a planned meeting between the victim and the suspect, during which the 35-year-old was robbed of several hundred euros.

"Among other things, a deep stab wound in the upper body" revealed the injured Wiesn tourist when passers-by found him in Schwabing.

Around 6:30 p.m., the police were informed of the incident in the Ackermannstrasse area.

The 41-year-old British tourist received immediate medical attention and was taken to hospital for emergency surgery.

"There is currently no longer an acute danger to life," said the police on Sunday afternoon.

Due to his injuries, however, he is not yet ready for questioning.

According to a police spokesman, the man had previously been to the Oktoberfest with companions.

The crime happened in Schwabing, near his home.

So far it is completely unclear how it happened.

Shortly after the attack, he was probably able to inform one of the Oktoberfest attendants about the attack.

"At the scene of the crime, extensive forensic and search measures were carried out in the area of ​​Ackermannstrasse." Ten patrols and police dogs were deployed.

"So far, there have been no concrete indications of a perpetrator or the means used."

Police are appealing for witnesses to the attempted homicide

The officials have not yet ruled out a robbery or a drug-related offence, but there are no indications of this.

The Munich homicide commission took over the investigation in the evening.
