The Greek Orthodox Patriarch of the Holy Land, Theophilos III, affirmed that the attacks of the Israeli occupation forces and settlers on the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque are a flagrant aggression against the sanctities and religious rights of the Palestinians, and in contradiction with the legal and historical status existing in the city of Jerusalem with the aim of emptying the city of Palestinian presence.

And the Palestinian Wafa Agency quoted the Patriarch as saying in a statement today: The freedom of worship is guaranteed in all international laws and charters, and the violations by settler groups of Islamic and Christian holy sites are a clear violation of the right of Palestinians to exercise their natural right and religious rites freely.

The Patriarch stressed that the attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque for Christians are no less dangerous than the attacks on the Church of the Holy Sepulcher, and any change in the Temple Mount is a threat to the Church of the Holy Sepulcher as well, describing the Israeli attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque today as “aggressive, provocative, condemnable and reprehensible.”

A number of Palestinians were injured, and others were arrested this morning when hundreds of Israeli settlers stormed Al-Aqsa Mosque under the protection of the occupation forces.
