The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Damascus organized a reception on the occasion of the 77th anniversary of its independence, at Dama Rose Hotel.
In a speech during the ceremony, the Indonesian ambassador to Damascus, Wajid Fawzi, stressed that the relations between the two countries are historical and deep, and are the strong basis for developing bilateral cooperation in various fields, and that today's celebration is also a celebration of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries, pointing out that the Indonesian Embassy It works to strengthen relations to serve the interests of the peoples of the two countries.
And the Indonesian ambassador indicated that his country's independence is the result of the long struggle and the people's sacrifice to wrest independence from colonialism, pointing to the great effort that Indonesia has made during the past 77 years to overcome adversity, overcome difficulties and turn challenges into opportunities, explaining that his country, through its presidency of the Group of Twenty this year, seeks to ensure Justice and prosperity for all countries of the world.
For his part, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, reiterated the depth of the friendship between the two countries, which is not measured by its modern and contemporary dimensions because it goes deep into history, as Syria supported Indonesia's independence in the late 1940s, while Indonesia supported Syria in its war on terrorism.
Dr. Al-Jaafari pointed out that the two countries are among the founding countries of the Non-Aligned Movement, partners in the fight against terrorism, and have many commonalities between the two countries and peoples, which calls for strengthening bilateral relations in all fields.
The ceremony included the presentation of a number of Indonesian traditional dances, which lead to welcome the guests, and express the spirit of brotherhood, cooperation, harmony and friendship among humans.
