The head of the Zaporizhzhya district administration Vladimir Rogov revealed that Ukraine is preventing citizens of the district from crossing the liberated part of it to participate in the referendum on joining Russia.
"The number of people seeking to enter the liberated areas of the Zaporozhye region has increased amid the referendum on joining Russia, but Ukraine is preventing them from leaving and has closed the road knowing that they will vote," TASS news agency quoted Rogov as saying.
Voting in the referendum on the accession of the Lugansk and Donetsk republics and the Kherson and Zaporozhye regions to Russia began on Friday morning and is scheduled to continue until September 27.
