Nine people, including five children, were killed Monday in a shooting at a school in the Russian city of Izhevsk, state news agency TASS reported, citing the regional Investigative Committee.
An attacker opened fire at a school in Izhevsk in the Udmurtia region, local law enforcement officials told TASS on Monday.
"Today, the police received a report about a shooting at School 88 in Izhevsk. Police officers immediately went to the scene," law enforcement officials said, according to TASS.
The school administration said that students and teachers had been evacuated, according to TASS.
There are "victims and injuries" among children from the shooting, Alexander Brechalovn, head of the Republic of Udmurtia, said in a video statement.
“There was a tragedy in Udmurtya.
In Izhevsk school number 88, an unidentified person entered the school and killed the security guard," Brechalovn said.

"... There are casualties and injuries among children," Brechalov said.
"The evacuation is over. [The attacker] has shot himself," he added.
