The restoration of the Egerlandstrasse is like a patchwork rug.

Work is being done on many corners at the same time - depending on the availability of materials.

Geretsried – Work has been going on for months on the new surface of the Egerlandstraße in the "Neue Mitte" in Geretsried.

At the beginning and at the end it looks pretty good.

Only in the long middle section is there still a problem.

Some of the trough stones, the asphalt and other installations are still missing.

Stadtbaurat Rainer Goldstein is happy about every progress on the construction site.

The procurement of building materials sometimes presents planners and contractors with challenges.

The drop-shaped roundabout at the junction with Fasanenweg has been open to traffic for a good week now, and traffic can flow again.

The old pavement slabs in front of the Intersport Utzinger and the Paracelsus pharmacy were torn out and the area filled with asphalt.

"We are currently working our way around the drop," says Goldstein at the on-site visit.

In other words, the corner on the opposite side in front of the Kind branch will also be asphalted, as will the sidewalk in front of the Isar department store, Schmid-Bäck' and the Istanbul supermarket.

The shops and restaurateurs at the other end of the construction site have already done that.

The yellow top coat should then be applied in mid to late October.

The shells are falling: most of the scaffolding on the Sparkasse building has already been dismantled.

Goldstein's plan looks like a colorful patchwork rug.

Each colored area represents a mini construction phase.

"It's the little things that are missing," says the city planning officer.

"The warehouses are empty, the ordering times are long." For this reason, work is continued here and there on the construction site - depending on the availability of materials.

In front of BGZ2, in addition to outdoor gastronomy, a fountain and green islands are also planned.

Goldstein hopes that the substructure for this can begin in early November.

Experts believe it will be February or March before the well arrives.

"It couldn't be faster." The two bus stops are also located in this area.

The road can already be guessed at.

However, it will be a long time before it can be asphalted.

One cog works into the other: only when all the work on the façade of the new Sparkasse building has been completed can the scaffolding, including the elevator, be completely dismantled.

"Only then can we get to the sidewalk area and continue."

In the direction of Karl-Lederer-Platz, the view has been clear again for some time.

A small watercourse is to be created next to the C & A, as on Karl-Lederer-Platz.

This work is scheduled for the end of October.

The gorilla sculpture can also return to its original place after the end of the construction work.

Goldstein cannot provide any further information on when the roadway will be opened to traffic.

Too much depends on the procurement of materials – planning on the construction site is one and a half to a week in advance.

"Maybe we can say more in two weeks," says the town hall employee.

However, an asphalt roadway is not enough for traffic to be able to roll again – at walking speed in the future.

The road must also be safe for traffic, says Goldstein.

Whether and how Karl-Lederer-Platz will be accessible from Egerlandstrasse is still open.

As reported, it is said that the square in the city center will become a pedestrian zone.

"That will be an issue in one of the next city council meetings."
