Shots in Russia: unknown person breaks into school - at least nine dead and numerous injured

Russian authorities count several fatalities and injuries after an attack in a school.
The alleged perpetrator broke into the school beforehand.
Izhevsk - According to the authorities, a deadly attack occurred in a school in Russia on Monday.
According to current knowledge, nine people died in the rampage in the city of Izhevsk, including five children.
The national investigative committee spoke of nine dead, including five children, two teachers and two security guards.
The Interior Ministry of the Udmurt Republic had previously spoken of six dead and 20 injured.

"In Udmurtia today there was a tragedy in Izhevsk at school 88. A person who has not yet been identified broke into the school and killed a security guard, that is already known," Governor Alexander Brechalov said shortly after the crime.
"There are child casualties and injuries," he said.
The background of the attack in the school is initially unknown.
The alleged perpetrator killed himself shortly thereafter. This was confirmed by the region's Ministry of the Interior.
In Russia there have already been multiple rampages at educational institutions with many dead and injured.
Last year, a killing spree at a university in Russia caused fatalities, with young people jumping out of windows in panic.
