Special part-time job: Pastor (42) works part-time as a model

Holding a service in front of the congregation: That is Kornelius Weiß' job.
But the Butzbacher also does something completely different: He models.
Butzbach - Being creative, being able to shape something: Kornelius Weiß fulfills that.
He has been a pastor in the Evangelische Stadtmission Butzbach in Wetteraukreis for 13 years now and reveals that he writes his own Christmas play for the community every year.
But that's not all: Butzbacher also models.
With fair agencies, he is committed to sustainability, as wetterauer-zeitung.de reports.

White grew up in a Christian context.
After school and community service, he studied to become a teacher.
"During my studies, however, I developed hearing problems." He then had to give up his studies.
"I slipped into an existential crisis," says 42-year-old Weiß.
During this time, his relationship with God grew stronger.
Before that, he had already done voluntary work in the community in Butzbach.
»Then I found my calling in being a pastor«, he says and smiles.
After studying theology, he came back to Butzbach (Wetteraukreis) at the request of the congregation, first as a youth pastor, then as the senior pastor.
"It's the greatest thing for me to accompany people, to be there for them in need and longing," says Weiß.
However, being a pastor is a 24/7 job.
"Sometimes I actually miss the end of the day." For this reason, Weiß finds it very important to differentiate oneself and to do things that have nothing to do with being a pastor - modelling, for example.

A few years ago he met Anna Voelske at his church.
The two exchanged ideas.
A little later she founded the Fairmodel agency.
"I've been a model there for about five years now," says Weiß.
Fair and sustainable companies are the focus of the photo shoots.
It surprises and pleases him when he is asked and booked by customers more often.
"It's something completely different and that's really good for me."

Whether small or large shootings, fairness and sustainability are paramount for Weiß.
"If it wasn't fair, I wouldn't do it," he emphasizes.
The Butzbacher also wants to stand behind the idea of the product for which he models.
For example, on the agency's website, white is seen carrying a backpack on his back and presenting various items of clothing in front of the camera.
"I'm actually quite open," says Weiss.
Nevertheless, he is primarily a pastor, he emphasizes.
"I wouldn't do anything to get in the way of that." For example, he wouldn't be photographed in his underwear.
"I have a certain role in the community and that's where I set my limits," says Weiss.

The Evangelical City Mission Butzbach
Kornelius Weiß has been a pastor in the parish of the Evangelical City Mission in Butzbach for 13 years.
»We are part of the regional church community.
This is a work with more than 70 congregations.« There is no altar with them in Butzbach.
“Therefore, it is normal not to wear a robe,” the 42-year-old continues.
Weiß says that praying together and helping each other is the focus in the evangelical community.
"We have nothing to do with the normal state church," says Weiss.
It's not about competing with the 'normal church'.
"It's just important to me to pass on the Christian faith." He often receives positive reactions after their services.
However, after Corona it was difficult to attract people again.
"Before the pandemic, we had 250 to 300 visitors to the service," says Weiß.
His environment usually reacts positively to the part-time job as a model.
"Especially the younger ones usually find it super cool," he says and smiles.
But of course there are others who worry that he is not living up to his role as a pastor.
Pastor and model from Butzbach: Something is transported in both activities
Since he can organize his time as a pastor himself, it is easier to combine both activities.
"Many shootings are also here in Butzbach," says Weiß.
The 42-year-old sees some things in common: "Both jobs are about transporting something." According to Weiss, this is the encounter with God on the one hand, and the agency's message on the other.
"The relevance in both worlds is also an important point." Because Weiß wants to have an influence on people's everyday lives within the community and at the same time stand up for sustainability and fairness at Fairmodel.
»Being authentic is important to me.
I always want to be myself,” he emphasizes.
He also mentions one difference between the two activities: “Modeling is a hobby, a welcome change.
Being a pastor, on the other hand, is my job and my calling.
In the future, White would like to continue modeling as long as it is possible.
Furthermore, he can imagine being a pastor for the rest of his life.
