Between Bergfeldsee and Plieninger Straße there will be a complete continuous 30 km/h zone in Poing.

Currently, 50 km/h still applies in some places on the Bergfeldstrasse.

Poing – Tempo 30 already applies on the Westring in Poing-Nord, and also on parts of the adjacent Bergfeldstraße – now the route is becoming a Tempo 30 zone throughout.

From the south side of the Bergsfeldsee to the end of the west ring in the east, at the transition to Plieninger Straße.

This was announced by Mayor Thomas Stark (independent) in the most recent municipal council meeting.

This fulfills a long-cherished wish of the municipal council and the administration, so that the patchwork on Bergfeldstraße is finished.

Poing: Bergfeldstraße from the bathing lake becomes a 30 km/h zone

To date, there has been a limit of 30 km/h (limited time) in the area of the elementary school and the day-care center opposite the Bergfeldsee, but in the area of the Seewinkel Center (Edeka Pfeilstetter) and about 250 meters between the end of the West Ring and the elementary school, it is 50 km /h allowed.

A fact that council members have repeatedly complained about.

Mayor Stark announced that it would take some time before the new arrangement was implemented – the building yard first had to put up the appropriate traffic signs, and this would happen in the coming weeks.

Stark explained that the administration had come to the conclusion that the legal requirements for a continuous 30 km/h zone had been met when the traffic situation on Bergfeldstrasse and the Westring was checked again.

Among other things, because on the north side of Bergfeldstraße the residential development of the Lerchenwinkel is progressing.

"Police have given their approval of the updated assessment and the new overall zone," the mayor announced.

The arrangement can now be implemented.

The new regulation then applies indefinitely, day and night.

Traffic situation reassessed - police agree to regulation

In the West Ring, the existing 30 km/h speed limit with “right before left” will not change, Stark announced.

With a view to the conversion of the West Ring and the construction of a new roundabout at the junction with Plieninger Strasse, he said that the speed on the West Ring will remain limited to 30 km/h in the future.

This was previously unclear because some authorities saw the Westring as a normal inner-city street with a speed limit of 50 and the 30-rule was only a tolerated exception.

Now it's official.

(By the way: Everything from the region is now also available in our regular Ebersberg newsletter.)

Nothing will change on Bergfeldstraße apart from the continuous speed limit.

According to the mayor, the right-before-left rule that normally applies in 30 km/h zones is not applied on Bergfeldstraße.

So that the regular bus service can run without restrictions and waiting times and can therefore be on time.

Stark reported that the municipality of Poing joined the nationwide initiative "Tempo 30 in cities" some time ago.

With their help, the municipality was able to collect facts and exert pressure for the continuous 30 zone on Bergfeldstraße and in the Westring.

Furthermore, Stark announced that after the 30 km/h signs had been put up, the municipal traffic police would be deployed along the entire route for speed checks.
