The recruitment storm in Russia: fights in Dagestan, shooting at a recruiting office in Siberia Israel today

Dozens were detained for questioning in the clashes between the residents of the North Caucasian Republic and the police forces and the Russian National Guard.

The tension is increasing in Russia following the recruitment for the war in Ukraine: in a recruitment bureau in Siberia, a newly recruited person shot the bureau commander, in the city of Ryazan, a man set himself on fire because he refused to be drafted, but most of the attention is directed to the North Caucasus.

Dozens of people were detained in demonstrations held today in the Republic of Dagestan.

The residents, both men and women, went out to protest against the conscription in the capital of the republic, Makhachkala, and in the city of Hasabiort.

During the gatherings, there were fights with collaborators of the police (what is known in Russian as "titoshki" - helpers and provocateurs against citizens) as well as attempts to free the detainees from the hands of the police and the Russian Guard (National Guard).

The local authorities are making great efforts to suppress the riots in the North Caucasus: the region has a long history of resistance to Moscow (and other imperial authorities, such as Persia in the past), which Dagestan in particular can accept - and in fact already does - Islamic religious overtones.

The ethnically diverse population of Dagestan, and Islam, which 90% of the locals hold, is actually the main social glue, along with Russian citizenship.

At the same time, in the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria - which is also located in the North Caucasus - many dozens of people went out to protest in the capital Nalchik and harshly attacked the local government officials who came out to talk to them.

However, the two most dramatic events took place today precisely far from the Caucasus.

In the city of Ryazan in central Russia, a man set himself on fire at the central station, shouting that he did not want to go to the front.

The fire on him was extinguished, he suffers from extensive burns.

Whereas in the city of Ust-Ilimsk in Siberia, 25-year-old Ruslan Zinin shot the commander of a local recruitment office.

After the first shot, Zimin shouted for the recruits to run and then shot the bureau commander again.

The commander's condition is very difficult, Zenin was arrested on the spot.

Zinin's mother told a local media outlet that "Ruslan was very frustrated that his best friend received an order, even though he had never served in the army."

Meanwhile, the Russian Security Service (FSB) estimates that since the conscription was announced, 261,000 men have left Russia. According to the website "Novaya Gazeta.

Europe", which published the figure, there may be reasons to assume that the actual number is even higher. At the border crossings from Russia to Georgia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Finland there are still long queues: many thousands of people who are there are still trying to escape before an exit curfew is announced for all men of draft age According to the "Meduza" website, the borders are expected to be closed tomorrow (Tuesday).
