A man was arrested today (Monday) on suspicion of placing an obstacle on railway tracks near Acre and Karmiel.
There were no casualties and no damage was caused.
The Shin Bet is involved in the investigation of the suspect, and a gag order has been issued on the rest of the details of the investigation. It is suspected that the detainee took advantage of the shutdown of the tracks due to the holiday, and placed a relatively sophisticated device, not improvised and engineered, which was apparently designed to cause a train to derail its journey at the end of the holiday.
