With the participation of 110 adolescents and children from the governorates of Homs and Hama, the fourth international competition for mental arithmetic was held in the “Zenobia” hall in the Al-Waer neighborhood of Homs, with the support of the Homs Chamber of Commerce, within an atmosphere of stimulating scientific competition among the participants.

SANA Youth Bulletin indicated that the event included 110 young people and children from the city of Homs and Hama, and included 120 questions for each child, so that the winners of the first places qualify For the fourth international competition.
Hakami confirmed that the competition is being organized for the fourth year in a row, and it is an annual scientific event that is carried out according to specific global programs, to select the first to participate in the global competition for mental arithmetic, and it is held through the Academy of Creative Education in many Arab and foreign countries under the supervision of the Homs Chamber of Commerce.
It also indicated that the goal of the competition is to develop the child's scientific and intellectual skills and stimulate his imagination, during which work is done on higher-order thinking skills, and the auditory, visual and writing skills of each child, in addition to intelligence games to expand his thinking abilities.
In turn, Mervat Al-Zoubi, an executive member of the international competition, indicated that it is the fourth competition for mental arithmetic and the first global competition for the “Veda Math” program, which achieved great success, and the ages of the participants in it exceeded ten years. up to the fifth level.
For her part, Suha Deeb, a Scratch trainer, showed that “Scratch” is a programming language for children that is simple and easy, and does not need the complexities of coding and contributes to removing barriers between learners and programming concepts through graphic objects, where the child can, with easy tools, create simple programs and unleash his creative ideas.
Deeb confirmed that the Scratch program is available and supports more than seventy languages, including Arabic, as it develops the communicative skills of learners as it allows users to exchange ideas and provide assistance to each other.
Iyad Sebaei, head of the Homs Chamber of Commerce, pointed out the role of the Chamber through the specialized office for social activities and competitions by supporting various activities, including the mental arithmetic competition, which contributes to the development of the minds of children and adolescents.
A number of children and adolescents expressed their happiness with this participation, as it included times of benefit, competition and acquaintance.
