At the Long Night of the Fire Brigade in Ottenhofen, visitors climb to unusual heights.

Ottenhofen

– The Ottenhofen volunteer fire brigade drove up all of the vehicles on Saturday to present themselves at the Long Night of the Fire Brigade.

Among other things, visitors were able to try their hand at rescue from heights.

As one of the daring ones, Veronika Simeth dared to climb the three-part extension ladder to the roof of the building yard, carefully strapped in with the harness by Martin Mayr, who also climbed ahead.

Light rain set in later, the roof became slippery, and the firefighters didn't want to take any more risks.

There was enough to see: Stefan Sonnenberg used a dummy to demonstrate how to use the defibrillator and encouraged children to try a heart-lung massage.

This brought the fire brigade to the most important target group of the event: the youth fire brigade had to lose a lot of feathers.

According to Veronika Stadler's report, six volunteers were fully trained and handed over to the active team.

But now there are only six young comrades left, and they would be happy if more came along.

The young people demonstrated the use of fire extinguishers, but were also active in providing the guests with sausages and rolls.

In addition to information boards, tables and benches were set up in the tool shed.

Jörg Kowski meanwhile gave the chemistry teacher: He dealt with dangerous substances and goods, a bunch of interested people around him.

But it was precisely this bunch of grapes that made Stefan Gentschew happy: "It's great how many came," he commented.

"Now, at the meadow time, and with the weather, that's just great." The fire brigade thus recorded the day as a success.

Dominik Adam, who looked after the stand with breathing apparatus, was also satisfied.

There was also a real specialist audience: the former commander Kaspar Mittermüller came and was interested in modern technology such as the thermal imaging camera.

One experiment went fantastically well: once you pressed your hand on the tabletop, the imprint was visible in the thermal image for minutes.

Important in the event of an accident: If the passenger seat is warm, there is a risk that the passenger has been thrown out of the car.
