They assumed he was in a coma.

Alok Ranjan, spokesman for the responsible health authority in India said: "The person had died on April 22, 2021, during the second corona wave.
He had pneumonia in both lungs.
After he died, he was taken to a local nursing home, where he was pronounced dead.
A death certificate was also issued, stating the cause of death was pneumonia.” Finally, the deceased's employer filed a complaint because he did not show up for work.
Coma error in India: Police do not take action against anyone
Whenever his office inquired about him, Vimlesh's family would claim he was ill, a police officer said: "The family also obtained oxygen tanks and told neighbors he was in a coma and being treated at home.
They were confident that he would be alive and well.”
However, as a result of the cremation of the body, which was finally carried out, the case is now closed for the authorities: "Since no crime was committed here, we will not take action against anyone," said a police officer.
