The Health Affairs Directorate in Al-Hasakah confiscated quantities of foodstuffs unfit for human consumption, and duly destroyed them.
Director of the Health Affairs Directorate Basil Al-Abbawi said in a statement to SANA reporter that 22 kilograms of exposed sweets, candies and rest items were confiscated and destroyed because they were not suitable for human consumption during the inspection tours of the markets, with the aim of tightening control over foodstuffs sold in markets, shops and restaurants, and in order to prevent the spread of the virus. Al-Abbawi pointed out that the Directorate circulated to the owners of shops and restaurants the need to follow health and food safety conditions, use reliable water, pay attention to the cleanliness of the place and personal hygiene, ensure the safety of workers, obtain health certificates, completely refrain from serving all kinds of raw and leafy vegetables with sandwiches, and prevent Street vendors are prohibited from offering exposed juices, indicating that legal measures will be taken and the violation issued against violators.
Last week, the Directorate of Health Affairs organized 29 arrests against sellers in shops, markets and restaurants for health violations committed.
