Refurbishment of the railway line: the first preparatory work can already be observed - as here in Eschenlohe near the station.

A temporary road will be built next to the tracks.

Take the concerns of our region seriously.

The railway chaos in Werdenfelser Land does not stop - neither does the criticism of Deutsche Bahn.

At a crisis meeting, District Administrator Anton Speer and the 22 district mayors vented their anger.

Above all, the apparently poor communication of the federally owned group annoys many.

District – Deutsche Bahn can't get out of the negative headlines: there is great dissatisfaction in the district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

District administrator Anton Speer (free voters) and the mayors of the district communities find clear words after another round table with railway representatives, which took place in the district office.

In a press release, the picture is drawn of a company that cannot get the situation under control in this country.

Werdenfels network and rail replacement service: situation "very chaotic"

"The situation in the Werdenfels network and rail replacement services has been very chaotic, especially since school started," the local politicians complain.

This causes great confusion.

The result: "Mayors, together with those affected, despair of the current situation and see the trust in the railways badly damaged." The claim is unequivocal: "More needs to happen." In any case, the regular video conferences do not seem to have brought much so far.

The history is well known: after the terrible train accident on June 3 near Burgrain, in which five people died and several were injured, serious deficits in the rail infrastructure came to light (we reported).

Deutsche Bahn then announced a million-dollar renovation program to bring the route from Munich to Garmisch-Partenkirchen into shape.

In several places, such as near Eschenlohe, extensive preparatory work can already be observed.

Bad communication from the group

But the mammoth project is not running smoothly in the tourist region between Staffelsee and Karwendel, which is shown by the long list of shortcomings by Speer and the heads of town hall.

The short-term closure of the Mittenwald-Garmisch-Partenkirchen route, the dismantling of level crossings, the setting up of access and exit routes for construction sites and the delivery of building materials to and through the communities are criticized - "and all without communication and clear information from the Rail".

And according to the people's representatives, the rail replacement service also leaves a lot to be desired in many places.

"Children and commuters wait in vain at bus stops because the buses are already full or don't come at all," it says.

Parents' taxis would have to be organized quickly to get the girls and boys to school safely and on time.

And fathers and mothers sometimes acted out of necessity as a kind of service staff to instruct bus drivers who were unfamiliar with the area.

Speer urges those responsible at Deutsche Bahn to: “Take the concerns of our region seriously.

Give school traffic the highest priority.

Work with us and the communities - we are not looking for culprits, but solutions." And further: "Please use our weekly exchange and give us the information that we need here on site and in the communities."

According to the press release, Deutsche Bahn promised improvement, especially in the area of communication.

The mayor's signal is clear: "We'll continue to look closely."
