The images from the pedestrian cameras of the gendarmes of Esbly are unequivocal.
Last Saturday, when these soldiers – called by a local resident – were working on a street in Esbly, they came across an overexcited young man.
It is an understatement to say that they showed patience with this 26-year-old father, tried on Monday by the Meaux criminal court, for contempt, rebellion and possession of narcotics.
"We had come to help him," testified a gendarme - arm in a sling - at the hearing.
It is that the young man was discovered unconscious in a bush, his state of health inspired concern.
And for good reason: alcohol, cannabis and cocaine rarely go hand in hand.
“Even the neighbors were shocked.
They say that the gendarmes acted very well and that they could not help but arrest you, ”said President Emmanuelle Teyssandier.
Not only did the accused copiously outrage the soldiers, not only did he not allow himself to be arrested, but once in the police car, he banged his head against the window.
And the next day, during the search of his home, rebelote.
And this, while he was fasting and his two-year-old child – to whom he is very attached – was there, in the arms of his grandmother.
At the hearing, the defendant asked for help
The defendant, who cried a lot in the box, spoke about his cannabis use - he has been smoking since the age of 13 -, his addiction to cocaine - for a year - and his appetite for strong alcohols.
He drinks it every day.
The presiding judge tried to dig into the question.
"I'm not well, I don't understand why.
My parents are fed up, ”he stammered.
Before letting go: “I don't refuse to be helped”.
“Deplorable” is the qualifier used by the deputy prosecutor Emilie Petrovski, who requested a year in prison with suspended probation, against a defendant finally “aware of his difficulties and his addiction”.
Requisitions which satisfied the defense lawyer Me Emmanuel Giordana, who endeavored to describe the personality of his client: “He is adrift, in the grip of personal torments.
It is urgent that he meets a mental health professional”.
For his client - already convicted in the past - it was a first appearance in public court before a court: “It may be a trigger.
He will understand that he has reached a point of no return, ”hoped Me Giordana.
The defendant was sentenced to ten months in prison suspended on probation, with the obligation to undergo treatment.
