A mother from Afghanistan lives with her daughter in the Hessian Wetteraukreis.

The woman has not seen her five other children for more than three years.

Now they should finally come.

Butzbach - Sharifa's anticipation is huge.

The mother, who fled Afghanistan, has been living with one of her daughters in Germany for three years.

As reported by fnp.de, her five other children, whom she has not seen for more than three years, are finally due to follow in October.

Sharifa made it to Germany with her eldest daughter in 2018.

The two live in Butzbach (Wetterau).

The other five siblings, all minors, are still in Pakistan.

There are two girls and three boys.

However, on September 30, Sharifa and her daughter have to leave the Butzbacher apartment.

You are now looking for a new apartment for a total of seven people.

Vanessa Schlesier is very worried about the prospect of accommodation in an emergency shelter, because the children are traumatized.

They were mistreated and imprisoned by their stepbrothers.

The filmmaker and war journalist Schlesier has been documenting the family since last year.

Separated on the run: mother and daughter live in Hesse - five siblings in Pakistan

When fleeing Afghanistan, the family had support from the non-governmental organization »Kabul Airlift«.

In the four-part ARD documentary »Mission Kabul-Luftbrücke«, Schlesier shows how the organization brings local workers and families to safety.

The family of seven was separated while attempting to fly to neighboring Iran.

Mother Sharifa and her eldest daughter then came to Germany.

The five underage siblings, Nasir, Homeira, Amir, Naser and Nadera, were unable to cross the border at the time.

In December, the Kabul Airlift organization was able to evacuate the five from Afghanistan to Pakistan.

Once there, they are out of the war zone and safe from the Taliban.

"The siblings are currently in a so-called safe house in Islamabad," says Schlesier.

Mostly families are housed there.

"The five of them currently go to school every day," says Schlesier.

"For the first time they have a real daily rhythm." The 17-year-old Nadera even found a love for drawing and painting.

Some of the children were not allowed to leave the house before fleeing Afghanistan.

The children were severely abused and traumatized by Sharifa's stepsons, members of the Taliban.

Mother Sharifa says in the documentary that her stepsons burned her hand and shot her.

When her brother heard about it and intervened, the two killed him.

According to Schlesier, the children in Islamabad are now doing reasonably well again, but they have not seen their mother for more than three years.

According to the current status, it should finally be October and the five siblings are also allowed to enter Germany.

The anticipation of seeing you again is very great.

Nevertheless, the joy for mother Sharifa and the eldest daughter is currently overshadowed by worries.

Because the rental contract for the Butzbacher apartment ends on September 30th, next Friday.

Since Nasir, Homeira, Amir, Naser and Nadera will follow in October, it is not worth looking for a small apartment.

"I promised the family that I would help them find a new apartment for seven people," says Schlesier.

The family is flexible when it comes to the number of rooms, she continues.

"Three rooms are enough, four would be perfect." Schlesier emphasizes: "The family is incredibly helpful.

The children are polite and an asset to any home.”

Family from Afghanistan looking for a flat in Wetterau - emergency accommodation is not a solution

Now Schlesier is looking for a three to four room apartment for the family.

The location is of secondary importance.

The apartment only has to be in the Wetterau district, as the family is assigned to it.

"The best would be an apartment near Bad Vilbel or Karben, because that's where the social worker lives, who has been working for the family since 2018," says Schlesier.

But any other place in the Wetterau is better than what is in the room if no apartment can be found: an emergency shelter.

For example, the Wetterau district wants to build refugee accommodation right in front of the Dorheim recycling center.

Since the mother and her children are severely traumatized, this is not a solution for Schlesier.

The city of Butzbach is also looking for an apartment after Schlesier's request.

The journalist hopes to find an apartment by the end of September.

»It is very important to me that this family can be united - and that within our own four walls.«

If you can rent or broker an apartment that has three to four rooms and is located in the Wetterau district, you can reach Vanessa Schlesier on the cell phone number 01 76/23 20 10 23 or by email at schlesiervanessa@gmail.com.
