Father sentenced to three years in prison for child abduction

A father was sentenced to three years in prison on Tuesday in Pforzheim for kidnapping his son to Panama.
The district court found the man accused of abducting minors guilty of kidnapping the 11-year-old and taking him abroad without the mother's consent.
The boy's 50-year-old father had admitted the allegations and described the act as an act of desperation.
Pforzheim - The child has been severely traumatized since the events, as an expert said.
Numerous court disputes over contact and custody in the years before the kidnapping were discussed in the process.
The prosecutor had previously pleaded for a sentence of three years and three months.
The lawyer for the child's mother, who acted as a joint plaintiff, demanded four years.
The man's defense attorney said a suspended sentence was appropriate.
