The city of Geretsried is working on an open space design statute.

It should ensure more green areas and roofs.

Geretsried – There should be more green areas and roofs in Geretsried.

An open space design statute should ensure this.

In the development and planning committee, a draft has now been adjusted in a few points.

In February, the committee discussed a first draft (we reported).

The idea for this came from the parliamentary groups of the Greens and the Geretsrieder List, who had jointly formulated an application, and the Free Voters/FDP also dealt with it in an application.

The topic was then also discussed in the "Urban green close to nature" working group.

Geretsried: Open space design statute for green roofs

According to the draft, the city of Geretsried is concerned with protecting the street and townscape with an “appropriate and environmentally friendly design”.

Structural facilities, building plots and children's playgrounds should be greened accordingly.

For example, flat roofs and gently sloping roofs from an area of 50 square meters up to a roof pitch of ten degrees should be extensively greened.

Windowless facade sections from a width of ten meters, facades of garages, underground car parks, carports, ancillary facilities and especially industrial and commercial buildings should be greened with climbing plants.

Tree planting should also be regulated.

The passage was deleted from the draft, including housing for garbage and waste containers, garden houses,

Greening bicycle shelters opposite public roads and paths.

The statutes do not apply to terrace partitions, this point was also deleted.

The city wants to improve itself on Karl-Lederer-Platz, say the mayor

The committee unanimously recommended that City Council approve the bylaws.

"Who punishes violations?" Vice Mayor Sonja Frank (Free Voters) wanted to know.

"We want to try the practical test," replied Mayor Michael Müller (CSU).

One relies on insight and reason and does not want to come straight away with the catalog of fines.

The statute should also serve as a basis when building contractors come to the office with their applications to get advice.

"We also want to preserve Geretsried as a city in the countryside," added the head of the town hall.

Improvements are to be made, for example, on Karl-Lederer-Platz, which some residents perceive as a gray concrete desert after the redesign.

But it is also the duty of owners to take action, the mayor warned.
