The controversial state funeral for slain former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe began Tuesday (September 27th) in Tokyo around 2:00 p.m. local time (0500 GMT) with the arrival at the ceremony site of the widow of the deceased, carrying the funeral urn of her husband.
Dressed in a black kimono and greeted by incumbent Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, Akie Abe brought the urn containing her husband's ashes to the Nippon Budokan, the funeral site, in front of several thousand distinguished Japanese guests and strangers.
