Summary.
Halimata Fofana published her second novel at the end of summer 2022 with Éditions du Rocher, "In the shadow of the Rimbaud city".
In this book, she is inspired by her childhood spent between the HLM towers of Longjumeau (Essonne), to once again break the taboo of excision.
When she was 5 years old, the parents of Halimata Fofana forced her to undergo this genital mutilation, prohibited in France, while she was spending holidays with her family in Dakar.
She first buried this trauma, before it resurfaced several years later.
It is in writing that Halimata has found refuge.
On September 8, 2015, she released her first book, "Mariama, l'écorchée vive", inspired by her story, where she denounced this practice which would affect 125,000 women today in France.
For Source Code, Halimata Fofana tells her story at the microphone of Ambre Rosala.
