At the weekend, the Herrsching Citizens' Association asked their information stand about future usage requests for the Herrsching station building.

Herrsching

– As early as 2015, the Herrsching Citizens’ Association (BGH) had collected ideas on how the listed station building could be used once it was released by the railway.

It has been owned by the municipality since 2008, but their hands were tied until the rededication.

Although this happened last year, there is still a need for negotiations about open spaces that are to be included in the course of the redesign of the entire station square.

Nevertheless, the use in autumn is an issue in the municipal council - but not publicly.

However, the BGH wants to include public opinion.

At the weekend, the municipal councilors Christiane Gruber, Dr.

Rainer Guggenberger and Claudia von Hirschfeld were therefore once again called upon to come up with ideas.

But there weren't many new ideas, Christiane Gruber sums up.

The proposals from 2015 received points again for this.

And the most points went to Hansgeorg Vetter, who looks after one of the last railway counters in Herrsching and whose personal advice Herrsching's seniors in particular wouldn't want to miss.

"Mr. Vetter has to stay" was therefore also this time above all other wishes.

These ranged from a "cool café" that you could also go to in winter, to a citizens' meeting place, which was mainly supported by older people from Herrsching, because the senior citizens' advisory board had done a lot of publicity for the BGH campaign.

A cultural use is also desired.

Cabaret was a keyword, says Christiane Gruber.

The municipal councilor would have liked a discussion in the next public municipal council meeting, instead the topic is on the agenda for November 7th in the non-public part.

Building authority manager Guido Finster names tenant interests as the reason for the secrecy.

Two apartments are still rented, and there is also a railway staff apartment and various commercial units.

"Questions will certainly be asked in the discussion," says Finster, so that tenant interests and possible consequences that do not belong in the public part of a meeting would be affected.

Apart from that, Christiane Gruber in particular has been fighting for a change of use for a long time.

The old platform area with the whip lamps looks like a barracks courtyard, she says.

The train, which currently has its rental bikes and rental SUPs there, has only just been paved because the area has many bumps that were tripping hazards.

If the community were able to buy the space, they too would be happy to have a café with an open space – without whip lamps.
