Moscow, SANA-Voting stations closed in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson Abu regions

Voting centers in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, Zaporozhye and Kherson regions closed their doors in the referendum on accession to Russia, and the process of counting the votes began, after voting during the previous four days took place from homes for security reasons.

According to Russia Today, the referendum committee announced that the turnout in Kherson Province exceeded 63 percent, and in Zaporozhye 66 percent, while the turnout exceeded 90 percent in the Lugansk Republic, and amounted to about 78 percent in Donetsk.

The Referendum Committee of Kherson Province announced that 97.47 percent voted in favor of joining Russia, after counting about 12 percent of the votes, while the Referendum Committee in Zaporozhye Province announced that about 98 percent voted in favor of joining Russia, after counting about 20 percent of the votes.

In the Donetsk Republic, the Chairman of the Referendum Committee announced that 98.05 percent voted in favor of joining Russia, after counting about 16 percent of the votes, and the Chairman of the Referendum Committee in the Lugansk Republic announced that 97.79 percent voted in favor of joining Russia, after counting about 14 percent of the votes.

The polling stations in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics and the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions opened their doors from eight in the morning local time to four in the afternoon this morning, to receive citizens and participate in the referendum to join Russia.
