Russia has the right to use nuclear weapons in the Ukraine war, writes Medvedev, a close friend of Putin, on Telegram.
Bizarre insults follow.
Moscow - With the Ukraine war, nuclear threats from Russia towards the West have almost become a terrible habit.
Most recently, Russian President Vladimir Putin threatened to do so in a TV speech when he ordered the partial mobilization of his armed forces at the same time.
"If the territorial integrity of our country is threatened, we will definitely use all available means to protect Russia.
It's not a bluff," he said.
Russia's ex-president Dimitri Medvedev is now going one better.
The 57-year-old, who is now Deputy Head of the Russian Security Council, is considered a declared hater of the West.
In recent months, he has repeatedly shocked the country with drastic threats against Ukraine and its allies.

The same is true now: on Telegram, Medvedev unleashed a hate tirade with wild abuse, which is obviously intended to scare the West.
"I must remind you once again - for the deaf who only hear themselves: Russia has the right to use nuclear weapons if necessary," he stressed on Telegram.
Namely, "when we or our allies are attacked with this type of weapon".
Or: "When aggression with conventional weapons threatens the existence of our state."
The latter could allude to the planned annexation of four Ukrainian territories to Russia.
Russia launched corresponding sham referendums intended to justify the incorporation of the eastern Ukrainian regions into Russian state territory.
Should Ukraine then attack these areas in eastern Ukraine in order to recapture them, Russia could interpret this as an attack on Russian territory.
According to Medvedev's logic in his most recent Telegram message, the use of nuclear weapons would then be justified.
And "without asking anyone for permission, without lengthy consultations," added Medvedev.
He also emphasized: "It is definitely not a bluff." He is obviously also reacting to sharp US warnings to Moscow about the use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine.
The US government informed the Kremlin that this would have “catastrophic consequences”.

Apparently, Medvedev does not expect any consequences from NATO in the event of a Russian use of nuclear weapons in Ukraine: "I believe that NATO itself will not intervene directly in the conflict in this situation," he emphasized.
"Because the security of Washington, London and Brussels is much more important to the North Atlantic Alliance than the fate of the sinking Ukraine, which nobody needs."
Medvedev again resorted to obscene insults in his Telegram contribution: With terms such as "freedom" and "democracy", Russia's enemies produced "verbal diarrhea", according to Putin's confidante.
He also raged about "fountains of diarrhea demagogy" with which the western world wanted to defend its right to world domination.

The Russian politician also addressed alleged nuclear weapons production in Ukraine in his message.
Russia will do everything "to prevent the emergence of nuclear weapons among our hostile neighbors.
For example in Nazi Ukraine, which is now directly controlled by NATO countries.”
A few days before he launched the war of aggression against the neighboring country, Kremlin chief Putin had accused Ukraine of nuclear weapons ambitions in a televised speech and used this, among other things, as a justification for his war of aggression.
