The whereabouts of the land of "Mil Mill", the only paper-packed beverage box recycling factory in Hong Kong, is unknown. The whereabouts of the land of "Mil Mill", the only paper-packed beverage box recycling factory in Hong Kong, is unknown. Today (27th), the Science and Technology Park denied that it had agreed to lease it for at least 6 years, and stated that it would try to provide the recycling factory for a few months. A grace period, but rejected the factory's request to provide a grace period for moving out, extending to two to three years.

Ye Wenqi, founder of Miaofang, held a press conference today to counter the claims made by Huang Keqiang, CEO of the Science and Technology Park.

Ye Wenqi insisted that there were two senior managers in the Science and Technology Park Company who made a verbal promise to the recycling plant that they could lease for at least six years, but at this stage it was already "talking to each other", emphasizing that fairness is in the hearts of the people.

Ye believes that since the Science and Technology Park has rejected the request for an extension of the grace period, it should disclose information such as the development schedule of the Microelectronics Center, otherwise it is unreasonable to rush the tenants out.

He also criticized that the incident involved the public, and it took three months before the recycling plant was shut down.

Ye Wenqi: If I had known that the lease term was only three years, I would not have invested 10 million to set up a factory

The recycling plant of "Mil Mill" in Yuen Long Innovation Park was recently notified by the science and technology park company in charge of its management that it would not renew the lease, or would close at the end of the year, causing a heated public debate.

The founder of the recycling plant, Ye Wenqi, publicly responded to the forced eviction after holding a press conference in the Science and Technology Park today.

Ye said that in 2018, when the recycling plant entered the site and negotiated the contract with the science and technology park, he repeatedly asked about the lease term. At that time, two senior managers of the other party had verbally promised to enjoy a six-year lease term, and there were no major development plans for the surrounding area at that time.

Ye reiterated that if he had learned at the time that the lease term was only three years, "I would not have invested 10 million to set up a factory. 𠲖 It is meaningless to talk about the same family."

He also said that the three-year short-term lease, which can be renewed after the expiration of the contract, is "the norm", and some people in the social welfare sector have told him that the rental of vacant school buildings also operates in the same way.

The EPD's three alternative sites are not suitable and have written to decline

The three site options proposed by the EPD earlier are located in Cheung Chau, Stonecutters Island and Chai Wan.

Ye Wenqi pointed out that because the relevant land was not suitable, she had written to the authorities and declined.

He went on to say that the recycling plant is working hard to find land, but it is not easy. In addition to considering the size of the land, it must also take into account requirements such as electricity consumption.

He pointed out that the plan to reconfigure the micro factory is being studied, but it will take at least two to three years from construction to landing, and the recycling work may be suspended.

Huang Keqiang, the CEO of the Science and Technology Park, insisted today that he failed to agree to the request of the recycling plant to extend the grace period for moving out to two or three years.

Ye Wenqi said that only a few months of grace provided by the science park is far from enough. "It doesn't mean anything, I am willing to sit down and lean, but if there is no actual content in the meeting, it is not good to sit low."

Ye reiterated that he hoped that the Environmental Protection and Ecology Bureau and the Innovation and Technology Bureau would intervene. He hoped that the recycling plant could operate for a longer period of time until the pulp mill completed in the EcoPark in 2025 was put into operation, and the handover would be seamless.

He went on to say that many citizens take the recycling of paper-wrapped drink boxes seriously. "They have already cultivated this habit of washing them when they are handed over." If the recycling arrangement suddenly stops, "I don't think I have failed them. After three years, is it possible to regain confidence again?"

Recycling must be stopped three months before the shutdown

Ye Wenqi stated that, from an operational point of view, even if there is a grace period, the public collection must be suspended three months before the expiration. If the original plan is maintained, that is, moving out before the end of December, October 1 will be a dead end. I'd love to see what's going on."

He believes that the science and technology park needs to disclose the development timetable or roadmap of the microelectronics center to convince the public, otherwise it will be unreasonable. "If we demolish our factory, but it turns out to be used to bask in the sun, it is unreasonable." He pointed out, They are willing to apply for long-term leases for other sites in the science park, but only if the other party is willing to wave, "but they seem to exclude us."

Chen Jianqing said that the incident highlighted the mutual responsibility of all parties.

Our Research Institute: It is not a simple tenancy dispute that the Science Park has the responsibility to find land on its behalf

Chen Jianqing, a member of the local research society, said that the incident highlights the mutual responsibility of all parties. If you make good use of the land, there is actually room for it.” He also believed that the Science and Technology Park did not respond to the request, “It’s not about helping, it’s just telling you to be the master.”

He also said that the science and technology park has the responsibility to find land on its behalf, because the incident is not simply a rental dispute, but also involves the development of the entire industry, and its "reverse" behavior in the rental business will scare small and medium-sized enterprises.

Mil Mill Recycling Plant|Science and Technology Park took the initiative to meet with Miaofang: Very disappointed with the meeting The Mil Mill lease of the recycling plant has expired and there is no way to go. The industry advocates using the restored landfill to become a recycling base. Refuse to discuss again before relocation grace period
