The famous mountain climber Hilary Nelson has been missing for the second day on Mount Manslu in Nepal, this after she apparently had an accident while skiing from the top of the mountain.

The search party continues its search efforts for her, who is apparently running into difficulties due to bad weather conditions.

Neslon disappeared immediately after she managed to qualify for the top of the mountain together with her partner Jim Morrison.

The mountain in Nepal is the eighth highest in the world.

On the same day of the accident, an avalanche caused the death of another climber, a Nepali, on the same mountain peak.

12 other travelers were injured in the incident.

The climber's death is the first confirmed in the current climbing season in Nepal.

"We are trying to better understand what happened," said Jiban Jimir, organizer of the search expedition for Nelson.

According to him, Nelson's accomplice managed to arrive safely at the Bahar camp and accompanied the search team for his accomplice.

While still on her way to the summit of Mount Manslow, Nelson wrote on her Instagram account last Thursday that she had never felt as "safe" atop the Himalayas as she did on her current journey.

"The last few weeks have tested my mental fortitude in new ways," she added.

Nelson's career spans two decades, when in 2012 she became the first woman to qualify for both the summit of Everest, the highest mountain in the world, and the summit of the neighboring mountain Latsa within 24 hours.

Six years later she climbed once more to the summit of Lahotsa, becoming the first person to ski down from it.
