Between the songs of the coastal, Golani and Damascene heritage, and the melodies of the Mardali, Syriac and Assyrian heritage, tunes danced in the atmosphere of the Azem Palace in Damascus today, announcing the beginning of the musical evening presented by the Syrian Heritage Music Ensemble led by Maestro Nazih Asaad.
The musical evening held by the Ministry of Culture “Directorate of Theaters and Music” began with examples of the heritage of our people in the occupied Syrian Arab Golan “Tomorrow Manaoud, do not walk my eyes, put on fire, grandmother” with the voice of the young artist Fadi Al-Ali, followed by a group of Damascene and Circassian folk songs in the voice of Lana Habrasu .
In the evening, a number of coastal heritage songs were presented by the artist Bashar Nizam, as well as a link from the Mardali heritage with the voice of the young artist Rinas Al-Youssef, and a synthesis of the Armenian heritage and Kurdish folklore with the voice of Alan Murad.
Maestro Nazih Asaad said in a statement to SANA that the musical evening focused on the ancient Syrian lyrical heritage in general, including various links from all Syrian geography, with the aim of preserving the original Syrian song from disappearance and loss in the corridors of contemporary art, which robbed the true origins of heritage and attributed it to various parties. Several have nothing to do with the original.
Asaad pointed out that shedding light on the ancient Syrian heritage, presenting it to the Syrian public and reviving it in memory was the focus of the evening’s attention, as it is a language that is not widely known in the Syrian community. And opened the path of the developmental launch of this trend within art again.
He pointed out that the modifications in the show, from musical arrangement and simple touches to the melody, aim to give it a kind of contemporary and attractive.
