(ANSA) - ROME, SEPTEMBER 27 - "Researchers' Night" falls on September 30th, an initiative promoted by the European Commission since 2005 which every year involves thousands of researchers and research institutions in all European countries.
The aim is to create meeting opportunities between researchers and citizens to spread scientific culture and knowledge of the research professions in an informal stimulating context.
Hundreds of events, including live scientific experiments and demonstrations, exhibitions and guided tours, lectures and popular seminars, shows and concerts.
Italy immediately joined the European initiative with a multitude of projects that traditionally make it one of the European countries with the largest number of events scattered throughout the territory.
Numerous initiatives in Italian universities.
----------- Federico II University of Naples: for the first time the two-year project STREETS (Science, Technology and Research for Ethical Engagement Translated in Society), coordinated by the University of Naples Federico II, created with the University of Campania "Luigi Vanvitelli", the University of Cassino and LazioMeridionale, the University of Naples L'Orientale, the University of Salerno, the Campania CNR Institutes participating in the CREO network, 'Le Nuvole' (Neapolitan cultural and creative enterprise), with the support of the University of Sannio as associated partner.
The STREETS project looks at all the priority areas of intelligent specialization: from
aerospace to green economy, cultural heritage and human sciences through multidisciplinary activities based on the cardinal principles of Science - Technology - Research - Ethics - Engagement - Society.
A proposal conceived beyond geographical borders and declined around a broader concept of "research" aimed at describing the profession of the researcher and his role in the development of contemporary society.

The events can be followed in person and, in some cases, in live streaming.
One of the main themes of the planned initiatives is the narration of the link between research and the territory: the investigation in the most traditional and in the most modern research sectors will be told in first person by the researchers who work in Salento.
Admission is free;
stand opening at 5 pm.
