The Dorfen construction and transport committee is debating improvements to the timetable.

– It takes about 20 minutes by car to get from Dorfen to Erding.

When it comes to public transport, it depends on the bus line you use.

The journey takes 31 minutes on the 564, 41 minutes on the 565. If you have a lot of time and love the lovely Isental, you should board a bus on line 567.

Here you can see a lot of landscape in a 54-minute round trip via St. Wolfgang, Isen, Lengdorf and Walpertskirchen.

This district tour was smugly commented on in the Dorfen construction and transport committee.

Several possible timetable extensions were on the agenda.

At the end of a one-hour fundamental debate, the committee rejected a cost sharing by the city of Dorfen for the expansion of the offer on lines 565 and 567 from the 2023 timetable.

The vote was 4:7 against an evening trip on the 567 at 10:13 p.m. from Erding to Dorfen.

The district would bear 70 percent of the additional up to 60,000 euros.

The rest is divided between the neighboring municipalities.

The extension of route 565 to include evening trips at 9:13 p.m. and 11:13 p.m. from Erding and hourly trips between 4:15 p.m. and 6:13 p.m. from Dorfen fell through with the same voting result.

The MVV sees this expansion "not as expedient because there are many empty kilometers," reported City Hall employee Anita Feckl.

The municipality of Taufkirchen has also already decided not to participate in this expansion.

According to the will of the building committee, however, an extension to the 567 that was introduced in 2020 should be retained (one dissenting vote).

According to Feckl, the other municipalities also agreed to this.

The city's contribution to costs will increase from just over 19,000 euros in the coming year to a good 25,000 euros in 2026.

The committee unanimously supported a motion by the GAL parliamentary group.

The goal is an hourly service in the direction of Erding.

However, this can only be included as a request for the 2024 timetable.

"It's not as if we would need an infinite number of trips for this," explained Susanne Streibl, traffic and mobility officer.

This is already guaranteed between 6 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the direction of Dorfen, and in the opposite direction even up to 7 p.m.

As a first possible step, the GAL councilor suggested evening lines from Erding and a "loop through" of the 565 from Dorfen to Erding at 4:12 p.m. and 6:12 p.m.

“Weekend trips are also completely missing on the fast line.

You would have to fill that step by step.”

"Despite the long journey time, the 567 is very important for Dorfen," explained Streibl - as a link from the southern area to the central center of Dorfen.

The 564 as a connection from Buchbach via Dorfen to Erding is "more of a school bus route," she explained.

Individual buses are currently "brutally overcrowded", reported the speaker: the school buses around 7 a.m. and 1 p.m.

"That's not how I hire bus drivers.

You have to design public transport in such a way that people like to ride it,” explained Streibl.

Public transport is of course important for the climate change, but also a social issue.

After all, it also enables less well-off people to be mobile and thus participate.

He was "in theory very much for public transport," said Deputy Mayor Ludwig Rudolf (CSU).

"But I don't think the increase in sparsely occupied buses is expedient." That's why express lines are now being discussed in the district council, reported Michael Oberhofer (CSU).

His parliamentary colleague Sabine Berger warned against too expensive advance payments for poorly utilized bus services.

Even if the district bears 70 percent of the costs, “with the district levy, it falls on our feet again”.

Local public transport already costs the district five million euros a year, and diesel prices have almost doubled at the moment.

There is “a blatant disproportion” here, Rudolf agreed.

"How should public transport become more attractive if not through more trips," contradicted Heiner Müller-Ermann (SPD).

Certainly, "too much air is being driven around each other" in buses, but the ever-increasing utilization of the Dorfen-Munich train line over the past few decades shows him: "You have to make advance payments." Josef Wagenlechner (TEG) pointed to the population in rural areas village.

Bus transport cannot be the only solution for them.

"Carpooling is the way to go," he said.

Optimize stops:

A GAL application was also discussed to "optimize" all bus stops in the municipal area - including a roof and lighting.

"Then we are at gold edge solutions," criticized Mayor Heinz Grundner (CSU).

He suggested that the administration be commissioned to take stock, determine costs and list priorities.

This compromise was accepted unanimously.
