Fifteen sculptors awakened their chisels of the beauty hiding under the crusts of the rock, so they flickered it with their hammers, and drew the features of sculptures with their fingers, announcing the birth of a new cultural achievement within the Sixth Selina Forum, entitled (The Flint Mountains).
The forum, which was launched on the 20th of this month, concludes its work today with the participation of 15 sculptors from different governorates, who were united by their passion in the village of Oyoun al-Wadi in the countryside of Homs. And his soul is in the depths.
The director of the forum, the sculptor Alaa Al-Mohammed, said in a statement to SANA Cultural that the forum was unique this year by sculpting on the local basalt stone. Equipping it with terraces to receive artworks, in preparation for it to be a tourist, intellectual, and aesthetic destination at the level of Syria.
And Al-Mohammed indicated that the forum seeks every year to devote the beauty industry and cohesion with nature, as it is the main source of the artist’s giving, and the best and most beautiful part from which the sculptor chose the vocabulary of his artistic work, and left his mark on the rock with its permanence and eternity.
The sculptor Gandhi Khader drew the idea of his sculpture from the ancient civilization, where the bull is a symbol of fertilization in the earth, renewal and strength in the ancient gods, pointing out that he is continuing his artistic approach, with the introduction of new cases based on something intellectual because the sculptor is in a constant search for the new.
The sculptor Iyad Bilal considered that what distinguishes the forum is his choice of the local basaltic humus stone with its unique specifications and high modification value. Possess a little love and joy in a message for the place and the world.
Dr. Samir Rahma entered into a state of dialogue with random basalt blocks, to extract beauty in its optimal form, pointing out that the rich cultural environment incubated for the forum is comfortable with all its data, which left a special impact in the hearts of sculptors, as the diversity of nature gave artists diverse and rich images of the level of Syrian sculpture The present, which supports the cultural state of the community, and brings plastic art, especially sculpture, closer to the public through open forums.
Inspired by legend and Sumerian art, the artist Osama Amasha derived his sculpture using many decorative elements, indicating that his sculpture embodies a woman with his own vision, stripping her of her traditional, classical form, shortening and symbolizing her with a fish, and calling it the birth of John, which is in an oval shape. It is Homsi basalt, which from its point of view is considered a virgin stone with its own beauty, a noble material, and beautiful in terms of color and composition.
The artist, Wadah Salama, participated in a work whose dimensions ranged between one and a half meters in width and two meters in length, which is a legendary ship on its mast, two birds, carrying in its meaning a love story, and a call to love from the artist's point of view, and a culture that society needs, to live and live again.
