District – The Münchner Strasse in Dachau is to be illuminated for Christmas despite the energy crisis. As Isabel Seeber, chairwoman of the "Dachau act" trade association, informed yesterday when asked, the LED light chains attached to the trees should be switched on daily from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. during the Advent season. This was also agreed with the city administration, according to Seeber.

Shorter lighting times

Last year, the Münchner Strasse was lit up every day from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. and from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Cost of the action: 30 euros for the entire season.

Also because of these low costs, according to Seeber, the business people agreed that they did not want to do without Christmas lights in front of the shops this year either.

"We're already worried about our Christmas business," says Seeber.

Switching off the fairy lights "would then destroy the last bit of the Advent atmosphere".

The solution that has now been found, of doing without the morning lighting and shortening it a little in the evening, is a way "that hopefully everyone can live with," says the trade association chairwoman.

Even if, she admits, "you can never please everyone".

The costs for the fairy lights on the trees are covered by "Dachau Handel".

Indersdorf gets LED lighting

The municipality of Indersdorf switched to energy-saving lighting this year (we reported).

The seven trees on the market square are getting new LED lighting that consumes very little energy, says managing director Klaus Mayershofer.

Whether a Christmas tree will be put up will be decided by the end of November at the latest.

By the way: everything from the region is also available in our regular Dachau newsletter.
