Extra round for the Spring Festival?
"Kleine Wiesn" should run a week longer

From April 21st to May 7th, the spring festival will take place on the Theresienwiese.
But 17 days should now become 24.
An extra week for Munich's "little Wiesn".
Munich – In any case, the event company of the Munich showmen (VMS), which organizes the spring festival, calls for this extra week.
“The Spring Festival was very well received this year.
That's why we would like it to be extended to four Sundays," says VMS Managing Director Robert Eckl.
The Department for Labor and Economics was asked to extend it to 24 days.
The fact is: 320,000 visitors came to the Spring Festival 2022, more than in 2019, when the world was still celebrating without Corona.
A big ray of hope for the battered showmen.
According to the VMS, an extension means less crowding and even late afternoon space in the tents.

The extension: Sepp Krätz (67), who and his wife Tina have been running one of the two beer tents at the Spring Festival since 2010 with the Hippodrome, also thinks it's a good idea.
"That would do us good," says Krätz when asked by our newspaper, "and the demand from the visitors is there." Krätz, with whom the VMS has coordinated their initiative, thinks of the showmen, "who are now at the Oktoberfest because of the weather again have hardly any business".
At the spring festival, the chances of a longer period of fine weather would be better.
Of course, a longer festival is also beneficial for sales in the beer tent (everything about Oktoberfest reservations).
On the other hand, the push for the local politicians of the district committee (BA) Ludwigs-/Isarvorstadt, who dealt with the topic in their meeting on Tuesday, is a red rag.
"We could create a precedent that scares me," said Arne Brach (Greens).
"In the end, the Oktoberfest also takes place for three or four weeks, which is an unreasonable burden for the residents."
According to several local politicians, economics officer Clemens Baumgärtner (CSU) has signaled that he supports the extension of the spring festival.
On request, the economic department said on Wednesday that the final decision would be made by the city council's economic committee.
