– “We shake our hips, wriggle our feet.

It hangs at the bottom of the leg, that's how it should be.” The fact that the youngest from the evangelical children's home “Arche” open the baby reception is almost a tradition.

Around 80 newborn fellow citizens and their parents accepted the city's invitation to the community center.

Among them the co-founder of the reception for newcomers held every year at this time in Unterschleißheim: Isolde Kalinowski (65) is there this time as a grandmother.

The dates scheduled between September and October are more than just information events.

The baby receptions are valued as contact exchanges, as an opportunity to get to know other families.

He no less applauded the touching musical play by the “Rasselbande” from the Arbeiterwohlfahrt daycare center of the same name and the Viking dance performed by children and carers at the Champini daycare center.

More newborn boys than girls in Unterschleißheim

285 babies have been born in the city since the last reception a year ago.

A little less than usual.

What is really unusual, however, is that significantly more boys than girls saw the light of day this year (143 to 128).

When it comes to statistics, the mayor is never wrong.

The city looks after data on population development like a treasure.

Böck let the young parents in the ballroom of the community center know that he was planning another children's home in the new garden district.

Additional daycare places are to be created in connection with the multi-generational living planned for Lohhof Süd.

The mayor of Unterschleißheim took the air out of the sails from the outset.

With currently 349 crèches, 1047 kindergartens and 531 after-school care places - plus large day care, childminders and lunchtime care - the city is well positioned overall.

Close to World Children's Day

When Isolde Kalinowski developed the concept for a baby reception, the reception was deliberately scheduled to coincide with World Children's Day, which was celebrated two days earlier this year, on Friday, in the community center.

Parents should be able to find out what the city has to offer for the youngest without obligation at the baby reception.

This has also been a tradition since then, as has the appearance of the youngest from the “Arche” children's home, who said goodbye with a funny interlude: “One hand to greet and another hand to greet.
