Non-operation would cost the city more than operation: the artificial ice rink.

Good news for ice sports fans in the district.
Despite the energy crisis, the Dachau artificial ice rink will continue to operate in the coming winter.
The majority of the city councilors in the committee agreed that ice skating is important for amateur and club athletes.
In addition, canceling the ice cream season would save energy, but not money.
Dachau – The example of the artificial ice rink in Dachau shows that many things initially sound simpler than they actually are.
In times of tight budgets in the city and possibly empty gas storage facilities in the country, some thought it would be a great idea to simply skip the 2022/2023 ice skating season on the Dachau artificial ice rink.
According to the calculation, a cancellation would save energy and money at the same time.
Non-operation would be 5000 euros more expensive
Not at all, as the administration calculated for the city councilors on Tuesday in the main and finance committee.
Due to the high maintenance, cleaning and personnel costs as well as the loss of income, not operating the ice rink would ultimately cost the city 5,000 euros more than running it.
The immaterial price that leisure users and ice sports clubs have to pay for the cancellation cannot be quantified anyway.
According to the administration, the only thing that non-opening of the artificial ice rink would bring is a - albeit manageable - "contribution to securing the overall economic energy supply and defusing the tense situation on the energy markets due to the reduced consumption of electricity and gas".
Sports consultant Dietz: "Cancellation is not possible"
With the exception of Luise Krispenz (Greens), the councilors agreed to open the ice rink again this winter in the interest of the health and quality of life of the Dachau population.
Sports officer Günter Dietz (CSU) summed it up like this: “When you see what’s always going on!
There are families, school sports, the ESV. ”A cancellation of the ice cream season, according to Dietz, is “not possible”!
However, Krispenz and her Grüner colleague Richard Seidl did not want to give up completely.
After all, given the energy crisis, it's also about symbolism: "Everyone's talking about saving energy.
It's just us as a city that don't limit ourselves.” Seidl's suggestion: The changing rooms should be open, but only heated to a minimum - i.e. to frost protection temperature.
After all, it is "not such a drastic intervention if you don't have a heater to change your shoes".
SPD Councilor Christa Keimerl, however, recalled that teams also came from outside, especially during matches.
"They would then have to change in the cold room and then again after the game." Markus Haberl, the head of department responsible for sports in the town hall, also doubted whether it would make much energy sense to turn the heating off for the public run and turn it on again for the sports competitions .

Seidl's new suggestion to switch on the heating for everyone, but then please to a maximum of 18 degrees, led to a small outburst from Mayor Florian Hartmann, who had listened to the discussion calmly until then: "You can imagine that so easily". , he scolded.
Not only on the artificial ice rink, but also in other public buildings one works with "ancient heating systems".
Say goodbye to the thought that we have state-of-the-art equipment everywhere and only have to type in '1' and '8' anywhere”!
And yet the city is trying - and always has been - to save heating costs: "We didn't have 28 degrees before and said: We don't give a damn about the energy!" In the end, department head Haberl said yes to the two Greens, Seidl and Krispenz, at least to "try to bring the temperature down to 18 degrees".

The funeral parlor at the forest cemetery remains heated during funeral services
The idea of no longer heating the funeral parlor at the Dachau forest cemetery or only heating it minimally in frost protection mode and thus saving energy was discussed on Tuesday in the main and finance committee.
The unanimous result: no, the hall should – as is already customary – be heated to a minimum of frost protection and “normal” for funeral services.
According to SPD city councilor Christa Keimerl, among others, this is "important especially for older citizens".
According to the management, it would not have been technically possible to shut down the heating completely due to the threat of frost damage.
