International observers who supervised the referendums held in the Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions considered it a step towards a political settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, as well as based on the principle of the right of self-determination of peoples guaranteed by the Charter of the United Nations.
In a press conference held in Moscow today, international observers pointed out the facts of pressure on participants in referendums by the Kyiv regime, and stressed that the organization of voting in referendum operations is in accordance with international standards.
They made it clear that voting in the referendum was conducted on the basis of the free expression of the will of the citizens and that there were no facts of pressure on them.
They pointed out that the cities of Donbass, Kherson and Zaporozhye were bombarded with shells by Kyiv forces, during the conduct of the referendum operations.
Referendums were held from September 23 to 27 in the Donetsk and Lugansk People's Republics, as well as in the Kherson region and in the liberated territories of the Zaporozhye region, and the residents of these regions voted by an overwhelming majority to join the Russian Federation.
