Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov discussed with his Azerbaijani counterpart Jehon Permov, during a telephone conversation, issues related to the implementation of the Tripartite Agreement on the Nagorno-Karabakh region.
The Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by Russia Today: that a telephone conversation took place today between Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jehon Peramov and Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, during which the two sides discussed the current situation in the region, including issues related to the implementation of the tripartite statements.
The statement added that the two ministers exchanged views on current issues on the agenda of cooperation between the two countries, and issues of common interest.
In 2020 and 2021, Armenia and Azerbaijan reached agreements under the auspices of Russia to end the conflict in the Karabakh region, which lasted about a month and a half. The agreements stipulate that the Armenian and Azerbaijani forces stop at their current locations and the deployment of Russian peacekeeping forces along the line of contact in the region.
