Tartous, SANA- The General Organization for Drinking Water in Tartous Governorate has invested new wells and carried out irrigation operations.

The Public Establishment for Drinking Water in Tartous Governorate has invested new wells and carried out electrical connection operations, as part of improving the water situation in all regions of the governorate.

The director of the corporation, Engineer Issa Hamdan, told SANA reporter that the corporation relies mainly on operating water projects on backup generating sets, as the cities of Baniyas, Tartous, Mashta al-Helou, al-Darikish, Sheikh Badr and al-Qadmous are fed on a daily basis, while the countryside of the governorate suffers from bottlenecks imposed by the nature of the mountainous governorate and the multiplicity of pumping stages. And the large lengths of networks that need continuous pumping and for long hours.

Hamdan explained that the Corporation is working to solve these bottlenecks through several measures, the latest of which is the investment of new wells to support the rate of per capita, where the Baniyas well was invested with an abundance of 200 cubic meters per hour to support the city in water, in addition to carrying out electrical connection operations, where the first and second phases of connecting the city were completed. The Khirbet Al-Ma’izzah line feeding the Karm Bayram, Khirbet Al-Ma’azah and Deir Habbash projects. On the tenth of September, the Karm Bayram and Khirbet Al-Ma’azah stations were connected to an electric line exempt from rationing from the water resources line, which led to the provision of electricity to the two projects that contributes to improving the water situation of the villages benefiting from them, which is (Al-Ghattasiyya, Sha’ab Al-Hawa and Khirbet Al-Ma’za), and follow-up will be carried out to connect the Deir Habbash project as a third phase, at a total cost of approximately 1.2 billion Syrian pounds.

Hamdan indicated that the final works are being done to connect the two stations of my project (Matn Al-Sahel, Baseera) to an independent tension line exempt from rationing, which will positively affect the water situation in the beneficiary villages (Baseera, Matn Al-Sahel and Wata Al-Matn) and will be invested during the next few days.

Hamdan pointed out that a contract was made to supply a horizontal pumping group for the Sheikh Saad axis project to pump water at an abundance of 300 cubic meters per hour, which achieves the stability of the water situation in the town of Sheikh Al-Saad, which has a large population, explaining that a generation group with a capacity of 1000 kV has been transferred and installed.

As for the northwestern Qadmous countryside sector, Hamdan explained that a contract project for the implementation of a supplementary line for the northwestern sector in Qadmus was signed at a value of 800 million pounds with the Military Housing Corporation, and it is under approval at the Ministry of Water Resources, which will contribute to supporting the villages of the sector.
